Last spring was a really good season for the Corinth Golf Program! Both boys and girls teams won numerous matches and tournaments. Both teams won the Alcorn County Tournament and the girls also won an 18 hole tournament at Red Bay, Alabama.
The teams had great showings in their respective 1-4A Regional Tournaments and both teams qualified for the State Championships. The boys competed in State at Pontotoc Country Club where they finished 5th overall out of 14 teams. The girls competed against a field of 13 teams at Dogwoods Country Club in Grenada and they also finished 5th in a strong field of teams.
The majority of the teams are returning players making the teams strong contenders for a run at a State Championship.
Leland Davis is our top golfer from last year’s boys team and will be surrounded by some really good golfers: Henry Huggins, Timmons McGrath, Baylor Pratt and John Stanley, all who played for the Championship last year. With the addition of some new faces like Occoee Pina, Brody Robbins, Blakley Timbes, and Will Matthews looking to compete, the Warriors are looking to have a great season. The Corinth Warriors boys team will host this year’s 5A State Championship Tournament at our home course of Shiloh Ridge!
The Lady Warriors team is centered around Camden Lewis who was last year’s top golfer on the girls team. Ella Davis is a strong #2 golfer who has a couple of appearances in the State Championship tournament. Madeline Brooks was last year’s #4 golfer on last year’s team with a State Championship appearance under her belt as well. Halle Faith Scarbrough is a new face to the team that will round out our 4 member team.
