Corinth High School senior Jaxson Laster signed with hago Automotive as the first student to be a part of the logistics apprenticeship program. This four-year program offers Jaxson the opportunity to earn an associate’s degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) and a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship by the U.S. Department of Labor. During this 8,000-hour program, Jaxson will complete a combination of college and hands-on experience.

“I’m thankful that God put me in this position,” said Jaxson. “I’m glad for both of the career coaches coming to me and showing me this program. Going on the tour [of the facility] really opened my eyes to what I wanted to do. I’m thankful this was put in my hands.”

“For Jaxson, this program is a beginning,” said Alfred Geiger, CEO of hago Automotive. “When he comes out of the program, he’ll have a really good degree and he will have a job anywhere he wants to go. We are really proud to have him on the team.”

Started in 2019, this apprenticeship program is a partnership between hago, the Mississippi Apprenticeship Program and NEMCC to meet the demand for a highly skilled workforce. Students’ curriculum is split in two days at college and another three days working alongside skilled employees at hago where they receive the support of a mentor and other department trainers. The company’s financial commitment, in combination with funding from a variety of local, state, and federal sources, allows students to attend NEMCC at no cost. hago offers four apprenticeship programs in logistics, quality management, industrial maintenance and tool and die maker. hago Automotive Corp. is a subsidiary of Feinwerktechnik hago GmbH, Germany. Their facility in Iuka comprises approximately 50,000 square feet of production area.

Corinth High School congratulates Jaxson on his hard work in achieving this exciting apprenticeship.
