Career and Technical Center
Culinary Arts
This pathway emphasizes real-world, hands-on practice of food preparation and food safety. Students learn to prepare breakfast foods, dairy, sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, salads, garnishes, potatoes and grains. They also learn about food safety and sanitation, equipment, culinary foundations, hospitality and math. In the second-year class, students focus on the ServSafe certification material to earn their ServSafe Manager certification. Additionally, they visit local restaurants and practice with our career coaches to interview for a culinary job.
Law and Public Safety
This pathway focuses on the history of law and legal systems in the United States. Students also learn about emergency services found in local communities and personal health and safety in work environments. Additionally, students learn about corrections in the state of Mississippi and all areas of the military. They also have meaningful, relevant job-shadowing experiences with local professionals.
Engineering and Robotics
In this pathway, students learn the foundations and fundamentals of engineering and robotics, including the history and careers associated with the field. Additionally, students are introduced to the advanced concepts of 3-D sketching and modeling with CAD software and the field of robotics in engineering.
Digital Media/Video Production
In this pathway, students learn how to design, develop, and implement digital media projects. The program emphasizes creative design techniques and tools for multiple media types, including photography, video production, print media, and audio. Course activities are aligned to the Adobe Certified Associate certificate.
Educator Preparation
This pathway provides information and field experiences relevant to pursuing a degree in education, and prepares students for the rigors of a career in education so they will remain long-term educators. This pathway includes classroom and hands-on experiences that prepare students for employment or continuing education in the education field. Additionally, Corinth students visit Corinth Elementary School each Wednesday to teach lessons to the younger students. They also help with the special education class at Corinth High School.
Health Care and Clinical Services
In this program, students are introduced to health careers and basic health sciences. Students learn about health care skills, legal and ethical health issues, medical terminology, body systems, and health care career possibilities. In the second-year class, students are engaged in advanced skills while gaining an in-depth knowledge of health care careers, including job shadowing experiences in health care facilities.
Horticulture Sciences
In this program, students learn about the horticulture industry including the science of horticulture and nursery plan production, greenhouse operation and management, landscape design, propagation of plants and plant diseases. This year, students have grown tomato, cilantro and lettuce plants from seeds and planted the plants into the raised beds at the high school. Future projects include creating a plant stand to sell to community members.
